Distribution of Scholarships in the Program
The Graduate Program in Zoology has institutional grants from CNPq and CAPES. We remind you that it is possible not to have institutional scholarships for all candidates who pass the entrance exam. Enrollment can be made regardless of the offer of scholarships, as long as the candidate has been approved considering the number of vacancies stipulated in the notice for the entrance exam, and is guided by a researcher accredited in the program.
The order of granting of scholarships is defined by the scholarship committee, constituted by the members of the Program Coordinating Committee - CCP, based on the grade obtained by the student in the oral argument of the entrance exam (which will evaluate the dissertation or thesis project and mastery the candidate about the project). Considering that candidates who pass a given entrance exam can enroll in up to three regular enrollment periods, at each entrance exam, the order of granting scholarships will cover new entrants together with those entering the entrance exams of the two previous semesters who have not yet obtained a scholarship.
This order of granting scholarships (current entrants + entrants from previous entrance exams who have not yet obtained a scholarship) will be based on the value of the difference between the score of each entrant's oral argument and the average of the scores obtained by all entrants who did the same entrance exam.
In the event of a tie, priority will be given, in order, to the candidate: enrolled for the longest time (in number of semesters) in the program; who took the entrance exam for the longest time (in number of semesters); who have a history with greater scientific production, to be evaluated by the CCP.
A table with the duration of institutional scholarships in the program will be made available on the website throughout the semester. From this table, entrants will be able to forecast when institutional scholarships will be available. However, considering that the scholarships are offered by funding agencies, the program does not have guarantees that the scholarships that become available will be maintained by these agencies.
Pay attention to the deadlines for expression of interest and implementation of the scholarship: if there is a scholarship available, the first candidate on the list will be contacted by email and will have a period of 03 business days to express interest In the purse. If the deadline is not met, the candidate will return to the waiting list and the next person on the list will be contacted. After the expression of interest, the candidate in question will have 05 working days to register and implement the scholarship. If this deadline is not met, the candidate will return to the waiting list and the next person on the list will be contacted.
Accumulation of scholarship with paid activity
In view of the publication of CAPES Ordinance No. 133 on July 10, 2023, which regulates the accumulation of scholarships granted by CAPES in the country, together with paid activities or other income, the Dean of Postgraduate Studies at the University of São Paulo ( USP) established that the decision on allowing or prohibiting this accumulation is at the discretion of each postgraduate program.
After extensive consultation with the program community, CCP-Zoologia defined that: (1) it will allow the accumulation of a CAPES scholarship with paid activities or other income; (2) all cases must be reported to the CCP for registration; and (3) the exercise of paid activity will not be used as a criterion in the distribution of CAPES scholarships.
Therefore, all CAPES scholarship holders who carry out or will carry out remunerated activities in conjunction with the scholarship must send the following information to the CCP: (1) nature of the remunerated activity; (2) number of hours per week that are/will be dedicated to paid activity; (3) in case of activities that exceed 12 hours per week, include a justification for the total hours requested; and (4) a statement stating that the activities will not affect the project schedule. This request must be accompanied by a letter of support from the supervisor.
In case of doubts or need for clarification, scholarship holders should contact CCP-Zoologia by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
